Typika Artisan Roasters // Review

Again, another gorgeous weather for brunching today. It's the first time brunching I'm with Johnson as I go to school on weekdays and he works on the weekends. Since we both are on study break, we decided to head down to Claremont to try out the ever so popular brunch spot, Typika Artisan Roasters.

Spiced Beef Benedict $20
My boyfriend went with the slow cooked spiced beef on toast served with two poached eggs and harissa hollandaise.  I had a bite of it and oh damn it was good. The beef was so soft and I love the combination of hollandaise and spices.

Beef Cheek Croquettes $23.50
I was really hungry and I wanted something that would fill me up. And let me tell you, this dish may look tiny,  but looks can be deceiving. This was so so so filling. I was full after eating half of it. And trust me, I have a very big appetite. This was pressed beef cheeks and shredded potato croquette, served with wilted spinach, a poached egg and herbed mustard hollandaise. I absolutely loved everything about this dish and I devoured all of it even though I was full half way through. The spinach complimented the beef and croquette and has a slight garlic taste to it. Again, the beef was really soft. The croquette was the best part of the dish I must say. Because it is made from shredded potatoes instead of mashed ones, it tasted like hash browns, but better. It is crips on the outside and soft inside. And the poached egg and hollandaise just ties everything together and oh I loved how everything just melts in my mouth.

I would absolutely recommend you guys to try out Typika Artisan Roasters. The staff are so friendly and it wasn't a very long wait for the food. Though it was pretty crowded when we got there, and we had to wait for about ten minutes for a table. But it was all worth it when the food came.

The Modern Eatery // Review

The weather was so gorgeous on Wednesday. But it was slightly more chilly than I expected. Thank God my boyfriend wore a jumper ahaha. (yes I stole his jumper).
So, to satisfy my jap cravings, I decided to go try out Modern Eatery with a couple of friends from badminton.

Modern Eatery, located in Fremantle, is a newly opened Japanese restaurant in March, best known for their Aburi Sushi (a method of light searing with a blow torch). The waiters were extremely friendly and the restaurant offered separate billing, which I thought was extremely convenient when eating with a group of friends.

124 High St Fremantle, WA 6160

Salmon Oshi Sushi $16 | Signature Combo $23
Oshi Sushi is a traditional style of sushi, where the rice is pressed into box-like pieces. The salmon oshi sushi was served with aburi mayo and a capsicum garnish.
The Signature combo consists of 2 ebi (prawn) oshi sushi and salmon oshi sushi,  a salmon, tuna and hotate (scallop) aburi nigiri.

Fry Me To The Moon. $15
This was one of their most popular dish. Not only it has an interesting name, but a twist to the traditional sushi that we usually eat. Fry Me To The Moon consists of cooked salmon and cream cheese fried with breadcrumbs served with sweet chilli mayo and sweet soy.

Kamikaze Roll. $12
Slightly similar to the California roll, the Kamikaze roll consists of Prawn tempura, shredded crab meat and avocado served with aburi sauce and masago (roe, fish eggs).
This was my favourite dish but unfortunately, the serving size was too small.

Overall, the service was good and the interior of the restaurant was nice, but I personally think that the portions at Modern Eatery are too small for the price we are paying. $70 worth of food was not filling enough for my boyfriend and I. My friends were also still hungry after eating, so we walked down to Cicerello's to have fish and chips.

There was a petting farm outside Cicerello's!

And that was the end of our little food adventure in Fremantle :)

Good Bye Summer // OOTD

Here's my really quick outfit that I put together for church today.  Since summer is now gone, I decided to ensemble a summery outfit before it gets too cold to do so. But who am I kidding. It's Perth, never too cold ahahah.

I paired this chiffon floral top with white denim shorts as I was aiming for a feminine look. This is actually the only blue top I own. No joke hahah. I then matched my outfit with this little orange bag to give it a pop of colour on the bottom half of my body as I was wearing a pair of white shoes. I also think the orange really compliments the blue top that I'm wearing.

And this is one of my sisters, Ning. She's 13, but her mind's 24 ahaha. She's the sister who is always.. okay, not always... maybe sometimes... giving me advices and telling to do the right things. She can also be a real pain in the buttocks at times but she's a very good listener and I love her <3

Faith if you are reading this, I love you too <3

Easter Weekend // OOTD

Easter has always been on of my favourite times of the year just because as a child, I'd get baskets of chocolate eggs. But now that I'm older, I've come to realise that Easter is more than just bunnies and chocolate egg hunts. It's a reminder of Hope.

So today, I decided to go for a slightly more formal look. I paired a this very delicate cropped blouse with my white skinny jeans and my favourite pair of platforms I got from Korea.

I've been wearing this pair of white jeans with a lot of my outfits recently. It just goes with everything I wear and also makes the outfit look very put together.

Top: Topshop
Bottom: 8 Seconds, Korea
Clutch: Colette by Colette Hayman
Shoes: streets of Ehwa Women's university, Korea

Super cute set up at The Rocks

So I spent my Easter Saturday at church in the morning. AND THEY WERE GIVING OUT FREE FISH AN CHIPS. HAHA. What's more welcoming than free fish and chips! Went to meet up with a couple friends after church to play pool and karaoke. And I ended my day with a spicy chicken enchilada at Guzman Y Gomez, Northbridge. A pretty satisfying Easter Saturday I'd say.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

PROMS AWAY

So as many of you may know,  I just had my year 12 ball last Friday. And oh-ehmm-gee. It was one of the most memorable nights ever. Yes, I know it's a really cliche thing to say, but it really was one of the best nights I've ever had.

Edrick Leong is my ball buddy.
